2026 Winter Champs Highlights

Provincial dominance in the pool
The Winter Provincial Championships at the Kinsmen is the midpoint test for the highest level of Alberta swimming. Our kids did the club proud by securing 51 podium finishes and 25 gold medals. Beyond the hardware, the technical progression was clear with 3 new Western qualifications and 10 new Champs standards for the summer. Topping things off are a staggering 23 individual club top-3 records and 12 relay records.
The trio at the top
Three swimmers steered the ship with performance levels that left little room for doubt. 13-year-old Noa Josh Burger was relentless, collecting nine gold medals and setting a new #1 all-time club record in the 100 Fly. 15-year-old William Cameron mirrored that pace, securing six gold medals and establishing himself as the new #1 in both the 200 IM and 400 IM. Meanwhile, 14-year-old Federico Martino balanced his gold haul by rewriting the history books, claiming the #1 club record in the 100 Free.
A strong finish to the 13 & Under chapter
13-year-old Isla Curtis turned her final appearance in the 13 & U into a milestone event. She earned a gold medal in the 400 IM and set herself up for future success by qualifying for the Westerns in the 200 Back. Her performances cemented her name in the club's all-time top 10 for the 200, 400, and 1500 Free.
Finding another gear
Efficiency was the theme for some of our younger athletes, who saw significant time drops. 11-year-old Desmond Phillips cut 10.8% off his 50 Breast time, while 13-year-old Aria Warwick shaved 10.6% off her 50 Back performance. These types of improvements represent exactly what coaches hope to see when the pressure is highest.
The relay records keep falling
The depth of the program was on full display with 12 new top-10 relay records. Most notably, the 17-year-old men’s 4x100 Free and 4x100 IM squads both surged to the #1 spot in the club’s record books. The 14-year-old boys' 4x200 Free and the 14-year-old girls' 4x200 Free relays also reached the top of the pile, setting new benchmarks for their respective age groups.
The Bottom Line
They told us to stay in our lane. So we decided to own the whole pool.
