A busy weekend of racing

May 21, 2024

This past weekend, the Club participated in three major events: the Maverick Spring Tsunami Invitational, Marlin Mercenary Madness, and the Kelowna AquaJets Persist Oil & Gas Invitational.

At the Maverick Spring Tsunami Invitational, we had 29 swimmers who collectively achieved 75 personal best times, 23 podium finishes, and 153 qualifying times. The 12-year-old girls led the way, with Emiko earning 4 golds and a bronze, Leah securing 2 golds, 2 silvers, and a bronze, and Isla winning a gold, a silver, and 2 bronzes.

In Kelowna, our athletes achieved 58 best times. Of the 21 participants, 17 managed at least one personal best. Even those who did not set new records demonstrated excellent race strategies, consistent pacing, and strong finishes. Erika and Skyla particularly stood out, swimming 10 times and achieving 7 personal bests.

At the Marlin Mercenary Madness, 41 Patriot swimmers excelled with 190 personal bests, 49 podium finishes, and 274 qualifying times. Additionally, three new club records were set: Frederico established new standards in the 400 free and 200 medley, while Will set a new mark in the 200 fly.

Overall, it was a highly successful weekend marked by fast swimming, fun, and well-executed race strategies.
