Bell Canadian Swimming Trials Summary

The Bell Canadian Swimming Trials is Swimming Canada's national selection event, and this year, the one that determines who represents the country at the Pan Pacific Championships, the Junior Pan Pacifics, and the Para Pan Pacifics. Seventeen-year-oldhad the marquee swim of the week, posting a 26.03 in the 50 Butterfly to reach another Canadian Trials time standard. That time also vaulted him to #1 all-time in the club's 50 Fly records He raced in four other events across the meet, placing 12th in the 200 IM Final (2:09.51), 17th in the 200 Fly, and 27th in the 100 Fly.

Sixteen-year-oldlined up in five events across three different strokes and held her own in a stacked national field. Her best result came in the 200 Fly, where she finished 12th in the Final with a 2:30.42. She also reached the Finals in the 50 Backstroke (17th, 33.39), 50 Freestyle (47th, 29.01), and 100 Fly (34th, 1:06.55).

Fifteen-year-oldtook on five events, ranging from the sprint freestyle to the 200 IM. He placed 14th in the 200 Free Final (1:59.11) and 16th in the 100 Fly Prelims (56.96), both strong results against a mostly older field. His 100 Free Final (53.98, 22nd) and 50 Fly Prelim (26.17, 22nd) rounded out a full and demanding week.

Qualifying for the Canadian Trials is an achievement on its own. Racing alongside the country’s best gave Samuel, Jade, and Will valuable national experience, and plenty to build on.
