Celebrating Achievements: 3rd Annual Comet Cup & Fundamentals Wacky T-Shirt Meet Highlights
The Cochrane Comets Swim Club recently hosted the 3rd Annual Comet Cup, with swimmers from the Grey, Black, Red, and Bronze squads participating in this exciting event. The competition saw a total of 85 Patriots swimmers attend, and the results were impressive with 408 personal bests being achieved, showcasing the dedication and hard work of all participants. In total, our swimmers claimed 97 podium places, including 27 gold, 34 silver, and 36 bronze.
A special congratulations goes to Owen Percival, Sophia Rippe, Alexander At. Arnault, and Jameson Young, who each earned their first Festival times. Additionally, Miia Sikorska, Ege Tutkuner, and Luca Young reached the significant milestone of achieving their first Trials times. Well done!
Among the 33 Patriots swimmers who made their mark with podium finishes at the Comet Cup, Desmond Phillips and Everett White-Oneil led the way with an impressive 8 podium finishes each. Close behind, Kira Barber, Jaden Lee, Sophia Rippe, and Tian Ren Shi each earned 5 podium finishes. Congratulations to all our athletes for their outstanding performances!
In addition to the Comet Cup, the Fundamentals Wacky T-Shirt Meet hosted by the University of Calgary Swim Club was another exciting event. The White squads were represented by 26 participants, and their achievements were remarkable with 78 personal bests being recorded and 46 podium finishes secured, with 19 gold, 18 silver, and 9 bronze medals.
22 Patriots swimmers earned a spot on the podium, with Lincoln Giroux, Esme Hockey, Huxley Maaskant, and William Pemberton leading the charge with 4 medals each.
Both events highlighted the hard work, skill, and sportsmanship of all the swimmers. These achievements not only reflect their individual growth but also the spirit of teamwork and determination that defines our swim community. We look forward to seeing even more success in the future as our athletes continue to excel in the pool.
