Maverick Madness Summary
The Big Number: 48
Our swimmers collected 48 podium finishes at the Brookfield Residential YMCA. That is a heavy amount of hardware to carry home in a damp swim bag. The team brought back 14 gold medals and a long list of new personal bests.
The Standout Stats
Silas Kwok broke the number one all-time club record for his age group in the 400 IM. He also managed to land on the podium six different times during the meet. Aria Warwick and Everett White-O'Neil were equally busy at the top of the podium, each securing three gold medals.
The Shortcut Takers
A few swimmers found a way to finish significantly faster than their previous bests. Casper Nimmon shaved 10.2% off his time in the 100 IM. Jayne Atamba matched that efficiency with a 10.2% drop of her own in the 100 Breast. These are the types of improvements that make those early morning practices look like a smart investment.
In Other News
The team achieved 30 new time standards across the board. Stella Pasalic and Malcolm Schmidt Mitchell both hit new Championship standards. Isla Curtis, Jaden Lee, Vera Swanson, and Emiko Wong all swam fast enough to move into the all-time Top 10 lists for the club. Abigail Lee and Gabriel Ellis were also among the large group that picked up new Trials cuts. It was a good day to be a Patriot.
The Bottom Line
The kids are officially faster than they were on Friday and we can all go back to being professional chauffeurs.
