May Meet Recap: A Month of Milestones for the Calgary Patriots
May was an exciting and action-packed month of racing for the Calgary Patriots Swim Club. With swimmers competing across multiple meets throughout Alberta and beyond, our athletes showcased determination, sportsmanship, and a continued commitment to excellence. Here's a summary of the standout performances from a very busy month:
2025 KSC LC Invitational
May 2–4, 2025 | Hosted by Killarney Swim Club

19 podium finishes: 6 gold, 10 silver, 3 bronze
Hailey Cameron, Emily Pegg, and Cadence Waldhuber each reached the podium three times, leading the way with consistent top-tier performances. Scarlett Herget and Levi Hildebrand earned two podium finishes each, while Jade Boake, Samuel Bygrave, Owen Jamieson, and Ivan Ramirez Amador each added a podium finish to their names.

Dylan Lee led the charge with an impressive five-medal haul. Close behind were Nolan Curtis, Stella Pasalic, and Evan Ying with four podium finishes each. Also securing three medals apiece were Kira Barber, Ethan Lee, Rhilynn McKibbon, Vera Swanson, Eva Vaage, Aria Warwick, and Marcus Ying.
CCCSC Fast & Fierce Invitational

Sophia Rippe stole the show with a remarkable eight gold medals. Josie Johnson followed closely with seven podium finishes. Ria Veronica Mangubat (6) and Sophie Burger (5) also had standout performances. Additional medalists included:
Brook Rajchel (4), Nathan Yungwirth (4), Christian Chow (3), Ivan Dehtiarov (3), Ethan Jin (3), Clara Ellens (2), Lincoln Giroux (2), Maddyn Rushfeldt (2), Kalen Willmott (2), and one-medal recipients William Bass, Emery Calvert, Samantha Campbell, Chase Daunheimer, Danielle Dhadwal, Cameron Middleton, Safia Morrison, and Theda Pasalic.

May 9–11, 2025 | Hosted by Kelowna AquaJets

Leading the way were Noah Burger, Will Cameron, and Federico Martino, each earning four medals. Szilard Szep (2), Anna McLellan (1), and Cate Wachtler (1) rounded out the medal count. Notably, Will Cameron set a new club record for 14-year-old boys in the 200m individual medley with a time of 2:20.30—an outstanding achievement!
Mel Zajac Jr. International Swim Meet
May 16–19, 2025 | Vancouver, BC
We’re proud to announce that three of our swimmers were selected to represent Team Alberta at the prestigious 2025 Mel Zajac Jr. International Swim Meet. Congratulations to Samuel Bygrave, Levi Hildebrand, and Cadence Waldhuber on this incredible honour.
The month of May demonstrated the strength and depth of talent within our club. From club records to international selections, our swimmers continue to raise the bar. Let’s keep the momentum going into the summer season!
