Winter Invitational 2026 Summary

A Very Heavy Commute: 103
The team returned from the SLS Centre with 103 podium finishes and 39 gold medals. It is a miracle the parents had enough trunk space for the drive home. Many of the kids spent the weekend grinding through 800 and 1500 freestyle events.
The Gold Standard
Sophia Rippe had a standout weekend by winning four gold medals and setting the #2 all-time club record for 11-year-olds in the 1500 free. Lucas Percival matched that gold count with four wins of his own across the individual medley and freestyle.
Gravity-Defying Drops
Mackenzie Johnson shaved 21% off her 100 free time which is the kind of efficiency usually reserved for tax season. Eight-year-old Maclean Young dropped over 18% in his breaststroke. Olivia Stuart and Ellia Chee both hacked more than 15% off their backstroke times to round out a very fast weekend.
The High-Performance Crowd
The rest of the roster was just as productive. Willa Shortt secured her spot at Westerns in the 100 back for 14-year-olds. Abigail Federkeil and Brynn Burrell both hit Trials standards in the distance lanes while Benjamin Timmins added three more golds to the team tally. Isla Curtis and Nolan Curtis both secured top three all-time club records for their age groups. Huxley Maaskant and Ria Veronica Mangubat also grabbed multiple medals and new time standards.
The Bottom Line
The older kids swam the 1500m so the rest of us could eat 1500 calories during the Super Bowl without guilt.
