The Board of Directors meets on a regular basis and is made up of the Patriots community. Some of the duties of the Board of Directors include:

  • promoting membership in the Club;
  • ​​​​​​​hiring employees to operate the Club;
  • maintaining and protecting the Club’s assets and property;
  • financing the operations of the Club, including maintaining all accounts and financial records of the Club;
  • making policies, rules and regulations for operating and managing the Club.​​​​​​​

Aaron Swanson
President
The President chairs all club meetings; is an ex officio member of all committees of the club and together with the executive can appoint any committees that are necessary.

The President sets the overall annual committee agenda (consistent with the views of members), helps the committee prioritize its goals and then keeps the committee on track by working within that overall framework. At the operational level, the major function of the President is to facilitate effective committee meetings.

Ryan Thompson
VP Swimming

The Vice-President of Swimming is responsible for overseeing the activities of the club related to swimming, swim meets and functions.

In the absence of the President either the VP Swimming or VP Finance will act as the Chair at the meeting.

Noreen Hoffman
VP Finance

The VP Finance is the chief financial management officer for the Calgary Patriots Swim Club and is responsible for maintaining records of all receipts and disbursements of the club and assists the Head Coach with the preparation of the yearly budget as well as providing monthly financial updates to the executive.

In the absence of the President either the VP Swimming or VP Finance will act as the Chair at the meeting.

Tania Amador
Sponsorship & Gaming Officer

The Sponsorship and Gaming Officer oversees the ancillary revenue-generating activities including casinos, bingos and sponsorship for the Calgary Patriots Swim Club.

The Secretary provides clerical support to the Calgary Patriots Swim Club through the recording of the minutes and proceedings of meetings, and, occasionally dealing with correspondence.

Officials Coordinator

The Officials Coordinator leads the Officials Committee, and is responsible for providing officials for both hosted and non-hosted swim meets. This position is responsible for resource planning, recruiting, selection, training and recognition of Calgary Patriots Swim Club meet officials.

Screening
The Screening Committee is responsible for administering the Calgary Patriots Swim Club’s screening requirements in alignment with Swim Alberta’s Screening Policy. The Committee ensures that all required athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and board members complete the appropriate screening processes, such as background checks and disclosure forms. By overseeing these requirements in a fair, consistent, and confidential manner, the Committee helps safeguard our members and maintain a safe, trusted, and inclusive sporting environment.

Nominations
In compliance with the Club's bylaws, the Nominations Committee is responsible for supporting strong leadership within the Calgary Patriots Swim Club by identifying, recruiting, and recommending qualified individuals for Board and committee roles. The Committee works to ensure a fair, transparent, and inclusive nominations process that reflects the Club’s values and supports long-term success.

The Safe Sport & Compliance Committee helps ensure that the Calgary Patriots Swim Club provides a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all members. The Committee oversees the Club’s internal policies, compliance with Swim Alberta’s policies and national Safe Sport standards, promotes best practices in governance, and supports initiatives that protect the well-being of athletes, coaches, volunteers, and families.
